4-Day Work Week Vote for Calgary Transit Maintenance
We have been working closely with Calgary Transit Management and as a result there is a proposal for a 1-year trial of the 4-day work week across the Maintenance Areas within the Transit Service Vehicles Division. A Letter of Understanding has been agreed to on the 4-day work week. The job functions that will be affected are:
Electro Mechanic – J1 and J2
Automotive Service Technicians
Truck and Transport Technicians – J1 and J2
Autobody Technician – J1 and J2
Preventative Maintenance Person – LRV and Bus
Fleet Attendants – All
Welders, Machinists and Tire Repair
-The Farebox positions are excluded from this proposal at this time.
ATU Local 583 is proposing to have a vote amongst all of our Members that will be affected by this proposal.
The vote will take place on Thursday February 15th and Friday February 16, 2024 depending on which location.
We are posting the shifts that have been proposed as a guide as to what the schedule will look like and there may be some tweaks needed before the implementation date.
After the vote has been taken, if successful, there will be a one time sign up so our Members will be able to select shift and garage as per their seniority.

The vote will take place on Thursday February 15th and Friday February 16, 2024 depending on which garage you want to vote at.
Thursday February 15th, 2024:
Anderson Garage: 6 AM to 8 AM or 2 PM to 4 PM
Oliver Bowen: 6 AM to 8 AM or 2 PM to 4 PM
Victoria Park: 6 AM to 8 AM or 2 PM to 4 PM
Friday February 16th, 2024:
Stoney Trail: 6 AM to 8 AM or 2 PM to 4 PM
Spring Gardens: 6 AM to 8 AM or 2 PM to 4 PM
