Thank Your Driver Day
Our Calgary Transit Operators have been nothing short of admirable these last two years. As we enter the third year of the Covid-19 pandemic we want to especially highlight the exemplary work done by our Members.
Each of you has seen your job change drastically along with the world as we knew it. Rear boarding, driver’s shields, high tensions, layoffs and more have contributed to a vastly different work life for Operators. It is simply not the same job you were doing prior to March 2020.
What we have seen, is your desire to keep Calgary moving. To keep your passengers safe. To keep your fellow drivers safe. You showed up for work in what was a very unsure and frankly, scary time while many others were able to retreat to a less exposed environment. You boarded your passengers with kindness and gave helpful information. When ATU 583 was handing out sanitation kits and masks we continually had drivers asking if they could grab a mask or a kit for a co-worker they knew wasn’t able to make it back to the garage or to the Union office to get one themselves. In uncertain times you went above and beyond to help the citizens of Calgary maintain as normal of a commute as you could from the driver’s seat.
ATU Local 583 is grateful for each of you.
You were front line hero’s then, and you are front line hero’s now.
Thank you sincerely for everything you have done and for everything you continue to do.
Also don’t forget that we are proudly hosting a BBQ for our Members from 10 AM to 3 PM at Spring Gardens (Guest Parking)
